well, folks, this has been a big week for us up here in seattle, complete with family, food, a live show, and school!
happy st patrick’s day, everyone! to celebrate mike’s and my irish heritage, we decided to make two easy dishes with traditional irish staples: oven roasted potatoes and coleslaw.
behind the scenes at eclaire.name, there’s a rigorous process before a recipe gets published. this process includes at least one test run with the recipe, then much conferring with the kitchen team (ahem, mike) about the process of making the dish, the taste of the dish, and if it’s in the running to make again. once the recipe is thoroughly vetted, we make it one more time, take loads of pictures, and tweak ingredients and techniques as we see fit. after all that, you’ll see a post with the steps and recipe. but this recipe for curry, dear readers, is absolutely amazing!

way back in december of 2003, i was sitting at the dentist office, waiting for my turn to have my teeth cleaned, and i stumbled across an article about latke parties. the article suggested throwing a food-based holiday party instead of coordinating a gift-giving secret pal party or a white elephant party. the article advocated latkes and homemade applesauce as the food of choice, and i decided that we had to throw a latke party that year to celebrate the holidays and create a secular event that all of our friends could attend, regardless of religious beliefs. and let’s face it, fried potatoes and homemade applesauce are amazing.
